Ways to Change a Life……

Be a Foster Parent
Provide a temporary loving, safe and stable home to a child or sibling group who has experienced abuse or neglect. Specialized training, financial support and child care are available to help support the children placed in your care. You do not have to be wealthy, own a home or be married. You can be single, divorced or widowed. For more information call 1-877-kidsneedu or visit www.azkidsneedu.gov.

Be an Adoptive Parent
Provide a permanent, loving home to a child or sibling group in foster care through adoption. Training and financial support are often available. For more information call 1-877-kidsneedu or visit www.azkidsneedu.gov.

Be a Mentor
Every child living in foster care needs to have support from someone who encourages him or her to envision a better life. Being a mentor is a unique opportunity to show a young person that he or she has someone to rely upon, even through challenging times. For a list of agencies providing mentorship opportunities call 1-877-kidsneedu or visit www.azkidsneedu.gov.

Be a CASA
Help a child by becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). CASAs are volunteers from the community who visit their assigned foster child and advocate for the best interests of the child inside and outside the courtroom. For more information about becoming a CASA, call 602-542-9683 or visit www.azcasa.org

Be a FCRB Volunteer
Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) volunteers review the progress of the children in the foster care system toward achieving a permanent home and advise the juvenile court on this progress. Call 602-542-9400 or visit www.azfcrb.org to find our how volunteering one day a month can make the difference in the life of Arizona’s most vulnerable citizens.

Be a Donor
While the foster care system does its best to provide the necessities of life, foster children often lack the opportunities that most children take for granted. A donation to the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF) will help provide opportunities for foster children such as college scholarships, tutoring, athletic memberships and equipment, lessons of all kinds, school activities, and much more. Call AFFCF at 602-252-9445 or visit www.affcf.org/

Be an Advocate
Children’s Action Alliance (CAA) is a strong and independent voice for Arizona’s children. Join CAA’s advocacy network to stay up to date on policy issues that make a difference to the well-being of children in and out of the foster care system. To sign-up for CAA’s action alert network, call 602-266-0707 or visit www.azchildren.org

One Child at a Time

The Foster Care Awareness Campaign is sponsored and supported by Children’s Action Alliance, Arizona Department of Economic Security, Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation, Arizona Association for Foster and Adoptive Parents, and Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts.
